A Sunday afternoon of kintsugi — the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold. Come solo or with a friend, meet the people round your table, leave with a piece you made yourself.

The idea
The repair is the point.
Kintsugi is a five-hundred-year-old Japanese practice. Instead of hiding where a bowl broke, you fill the cracks with gold — the piece becomes more valuable because of what happened to it, not in spite of it.
Four hours, your own piece of ceramic to break and rebuild. Nobody has to be good at it. You go home with something you’ll actually keep.
02:00 · Arrival
A drink in hand,
meet the room.
First drink poured as you walk in. We talk you through the history, the materials and what you’re about to make. No pressure — the only skill required is a willingness to break something on purpose.
02:45 · Break
Break it deliberately.
Every guest gets their own piece. You break it in a controlled way, lay the pieces out, and start to see where the joins will go. This is the bit people worry about, and the bit everyone enjoys most.
03:15 · Rebuild
Rebuild it
with gold.
Working on your own piece, you glue the breaks and finish the joins in gold. The glue sets in about five minutes, so you move at your own pace — and watching the gold catch the light the first time is the moment people reach for their phones.
05:00 · Finish
Take it home.
Final set, a last drink, photos of the room. You leave with your piece boxed and ready to travel. Decorative only — it’s not food-safe, but it looks beautiful on a shelf.
The sound
Slow R&B, soul and jazz.
A curated playlist runs quietly through the afternoon — nothing to shout over, nothing that makes you self-conscious. Think Sade, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Jorja Smith, Sampha, Nina Simone, a bit of lo-fi jazz.
Loud enough to settle a room, soft enough to talk through. You’ll know a lot of what’s playing, and probably ask about the rest.

Good to know
A few practical things.
Wear
Clothes you don’t mind.
Aprons are provided, but gold dust and glue aren’t forgiving. Nothing precious.
Age
18+ only.
You’ll be handling broken ceramics with sharp edges. Grown-up afternoon.
Who comes
Mostly solo and in twos.
Up to 40 guests at shared tables. Most people turn up alone or with one other — it’s that kind of afternoon. Nobody’s doing this to show off, which is why it works.
